Head Stall

HEAD STALL
(KOPPENKRAAM)(2009)

A Market stall. They are selling something, but what is it? Heads.
Heads of people to have a chat with. To flirt with or to feed, just like you would the monkeys at the zoo...
This installation by Moniek Smeets was developed as part of the festival of the absurd, Grublit in 2009 and confronts us in a happy and ironic way with the alienation that arises as a result of virtual worlds such as facebook. Or in other words the impersonal individualism in these individualistic times. But nobody needs to know that. Just experience it and be happy. If for no other reason than the beautiful and distinctive design which will be brought out especially well at night because of the unique lighting.
All sorts of titbits are ready to be fed to the performers as well as lemonade which can be administered through little tubes. And there are also cigarette holders. Every head has its own separate box. They can not see each other.
