Dream Train / Light Course VII

T h e  D r e a m t r a i n

a light and shade installation by

A hit at several expositions and light art events for both adults and children of all ages.

An utterly simple concept with a staggering effect: a little electric railway train with a little light on it rides through a landscape of household goods, glass ware, shopping baskets and other old junk in a dark room with white walls. The objects in this mishmash all have an open structure or are transparent. The result: startling shadow formations on the walls around and on the ceiling.

A living and constantly changing painting of licht, colour and shadow moves around and over you. They are dream images, they evoke fatasies. They rise, grow, pass by and over and then disappear again to be replaced by new images and atmospheres with sometimes unexpected dynamic and distortions.

Every now and then this hallucinatory parade is followed by moments of peace and stillness. A goldfish is swimming peacefully across the wall, the content of a washing machine executes a slow pirouette, a figure of dotted lights appears to approach you imperceptibly from the mist.

The installation is accompanied by dreamlike sounds... Until suddenly a giant light bulb brings you back to reality: a room full of old junk and household goods. And the whole thing can be brought about with just one push on the button.

The Dreamtrain is an installation at expositions, events and as a sideshow at theatre festivals.
